Historic Brooklyn Centre Home - Cleveland, Ohio

Our home is located in the Historic Brooklyn Centre neighborhood of Cleveland, Ohio.  We are located close to MetroHealth Hospital and within immediate access to downtown, restaurants and the Metroparks Zoo. You’ll love our place because of the convenient location and the terrific space.

Brooklyn Center is viewed as an emerging neighborhood with stable historic housing stock, although our immediate retail district has seen a record number of vacancies in recent years.  There are numerous development projects taking shape in our area due to the recent and planned $1.2 billion investment in MetroHealth Systems, our major anchor institution.

Our neighborhood is centrally located and close to the other popular west side neighborhoods of Clark-Fulton, Tremont, Ohio City, Detroit Shoreway and downtown.

For walkers, runners, bicyclists and outdoor enthusiasts there are several parks and all-purpose trails close by.  The closest City park, W. C. Reed Park, just a 10-minute walk East (.6 of a mile) from the house.

The larger Metroparks Brookside Reservation is just a 15-walk West (.8 of a mile); and, the Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation that connects via 7.2 miles of towpath trails to the to the Cuyahoga Valley National Park (26.5 miles of towpath all-purpose trails and over 125 miles of hiking trails, is a 10-minute bike ride at just 1.5 miles from the house to the East.

We can provide guests additional information, including details on - Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, an excursion railroad that runs 26.5 miles through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.  The Northern most train station is reached via an 8-mile, 40-minute bike ride mostly on the towpath trail, or by a car (15-minutes, 10.5 miles to the Southeast of us.

There are two units that we rent to medium to long term guests with stays from 1-3 months.  We enjoy hosting medical doctors, residents, interns as well as summer professional interns.

Here is a description of the shared space within our house and the two separate and private units we offer guests.

You’ll love our place because of the convenient location and the terrific space. Our two units are spacious, bright, and both come equipped with a private bath.

Our home is a restored and updated century home built in 1901 that has been in the family for more than 50-years. Includes a large front porch with swinging bench and a two car garage with security lights that can be offered for use by guests for an additional charge.

NOTE: Both units as described below are being rented for a minimum of a 2-night stay during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are committed to and following Airbnb *enhanced cleaning protocols that have been developed with expert guidance (see below for a summary description of protocols).  Neither of the two units are childproof for children six years old and under.

*Highlights of our enhanced cleaning protocols and COVID-19 protective requirements for all guests:
  • We require all guests to wear face masks when utilizing any of the common shared areas of our home. We also ask that guests limit the time they spend in common areas to reduce time of exposure.
  • Utilizing Airbnb developed checklists for all preparations, cleaning, sanitizing, checking and resetting our units, entrance way and common shared spaces.
  • Sanitize high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknob
  • Use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and wear - protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination.
  • Clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists.
  • Provide extra cleaning supplies, so you can clean as you stay.
  • Comply with local laws, including any additional safety or cleaning guidelines.

PRIVATE SUITE & BATH, 2ND FLOOR
Air-conditioned private suite of two adjoined rooms and bath.  Includes one full-bed in one room and two single-beds in an adjoining room, dresser drawers, end tables, desk, upholstered chairs, clothing rack.

Space consists of two adjoining rooms in the front of our house with windows facing south and east.  Includes a private bathroom with claw-feet cast-iron bathtub with with shower riser and enclosure adjacent off the 2nd floor central hall.

PRIVATE MASTER BEDROOM & BATH, 3RD FLOOR
Air-conditioned private bed and bath rooms.  Includes two full-beds, desk, upholstered chairs, closet and plenty of shelf and storage space.

Space consists of the entire third floor with windows facing north, east and south providing plenty of sun light. Includes use of Sony SRS-XB3 personal audio system.  Private bathroom includes deep soaking tub, shower and heat lamp.

SHARED SPACE - Guests have access to our family's 2nd floor utility/laundry room (equipped with a coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, table and chairs, iron/board and clothes washer/dryer and Smart TV), 1st floor kitchen, dining room and living room.  Please ask for instructions before using the clothes washer and dryer.  First floor living room includes a Smart TV, DVD and stereo. You'll receive keys to a separate semi-private front entrance and shared back entrance.

RECYCLING & REPORTING SPILLS OR DAMAGES
We ask that guests use our recycling bins, and in the summer we also compost food waste.  We ask that guest help keep our home clean and if you spill or break anything to please report it to us.

WATER
City of Cleveland drinking water that comes from our water taps is potable and clean to drink!  We provide bottled water for guests upon arrival but encourage you to use our water carafes for your stay.

PERIODIC RESTORATION WORK
We occasionally work to update and continue to restore and maintain our home.  There may be projects in the works but they will not impact any of the guest rooms or main spaces you will be using frequently.

ACCESSIBILITY
The home is located just off of Pearl Road/W. 25th Street, near the I-71 interstate exit, the west side's major north-south arterial street, accessible to public transportation (bus and rapid transit) and all major interstate freeways (I-71; I-90; I-480; SR176).  Located 10-minutes by car from Cleveland Hopkins airport to the west and 10-minutes to downtown cleveland to the east  - $12-$16 Urber/Lyft or $20-25 taxi.  Our home is a 12-15 minute walk to MetroHealth or in bad weather guests can take a public bus only 2 stops away, or less than 10-minutes.

PARKING
Parking: Free parking is available in our driveway, front of our garage and free street parking.  We have a two car garage with security lights that can be offered for use by guests for an additional charge.

CAR SERVICE
For guests without their own transportation, we can offer rides to/from the bus station and/or airport, as well as for local shopping and other short trips for the cost of fuel, or we can let you know when we're doing our errands and you can join us on our short trips - when our schedules permits.  We're here to make your stay as easy and enjoyable as possible.
